The Vanuatu Adventure Race is a Prologue / Staged Race format event.

The course will commence with a Prologue event (Day One) on the afternoon of the 21st August which will involve a trek/run rogaine through a number of villages to provide competitors with a feel for what is to come. Competitors will be required to interact with villagers to find some checkpoints.

An early start on (Day Two) 22nd August will see teams navigating, swimming, mountain biking, outrigger canoeing, snorkeling, trekking/coasteering until they reach the finish line on (Day Three) 23rd August. At the end of Day Two, Teams will camp at a local village in preparation for an early morning start on Day Three.

Navigation

Mountain Biking

Teams will mountain bike over varying terrain ranging from sealed roads, rough dirt roads and tracks, open paddocks and village walking trails.

Outrigger Canoeing

These outrigger canoes are used by villagers to get from one island to another and for fishing the clear waters near their villages. The two person outriggers have been hand made by villagers for this race. It is recommended that competitors are competent at Canadian canoeing and are proficient at the J-stroke.

Roping/Abseiling

All roping equipment will be supplied by the race organizers and all roping activities will be run by Edge Adventures. Competitors will be belayed by an Edge Adventure Guide while undertaking any roping activity. No prior roping/abseiling experience is required.

Trekking/Coasteering

Teams will travel by foot through local villages, along dirt roads & trails, and along single tracks, down creeks and through dense rainforest.

Swimming

The event will see competitors swimming, don’t panic on the first swim only one team member will be required to do it while the other carries the gear, the second will be an assisted swim using a rope to pull themselves across to another island and the third will be coasteering.

Snorkeling

Cool off while enjoying the great underwater views. All snorkeling gear will be provided by the race organizer.
